Yehezkiel 3:20
Konteks3:20 “When a righteous person turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I set an obstacle 1 before him, he will die. If you have not warned him, he will die for his sin. The righteous deeds he performed will not be considered, but I will hold you accountable for his death.
Yehezkiel 17:9
Konteks17:9 “‘Say to them: This is what the sovereign Lord says:
“‘Will it prosper?
Will he not rip out its roots
and cause its fruit to rot 2 and wither?
All its foliage 3 will wither.
No strong arm or large army
will be needed to pull it out by its roots. 4
[3:20] 1 tn Or “stumbling block.” The Hebrew term refers to an obstacle in the road in Lev 19:14.
[17:9] 2 tn The Hebrew root occurs only here in the OT and appears to have the meaning of “strip off.” In application to fruit the meaning may be “cause to rot.”
[17:9] 3 tn Heb “all the טַרְפֵּי (tarpey) of branches.” The word טַרְפֵּי occurs only here in the Bible; its precise meaning is uncertain.
[17:9] 4 tn Or “there will be no strong arm or large army when it is pulled up by the roots.”
